2007 Abortion Surveillance – United States (2011)

CDC has conducted abortion surveillance to document the number and characteristics of women obtaining legal induced abortions in the United States since 1969. A total of 827,609 abortions were reported to CDC for 2007. Compared with 2006, the total number and rate of reported abortions decreased 2%, and the abortion ratio decreased 3%. Reported abortion numbers, rates, and ratios were 6%, 7%, and 14% lower, respectively, in 2007 than in 1998.
